Easter Island

Easter Island (known locally as Rapa Nui) is one of the most remote inhabited islands on Earth, located in the southeastern Pacific Ocean. A special territory of Chile, it is globally famous for its nearly 1,000 monumental stone statues called moai, which were carved by the early Rapa Nui people between the 13th and 16th centuries.
